The U.S. college admissions scandal is the largest case of university admissions fraud prosecuted in the U.S. It attracted attention worldwide, as it occurred in turbulent times defined by falling levels of elite trust. Why is academic corruption more than meets the eye? This session will start from the U.S. case and analyse causes, operational patterns and red flags. It will continue by highlighting trends shaping the global academic fraud market and its immediate influence in areas such as terrorism, public health, immigration and executive fraud. Using one of the world’s largest datasets on this issue, it will identify corruption clusters and recommend best practices in preventing and investigating it.

You Will Learn How To:

  • Define academic corruption
  • Identify characteristics of academic corruption and what makes it appealing
